i ran razr 1's 22's on the front and razr2's-20's on the back, and i sidewall punctured the front and sliced the sidewall on the razr 2's. i wondered what the hot setup was for these conditions. if i'm going to wisp, i need to start buying tires now:D since i have 1 set of razr2's and a set of razr1's. any info would be great...

what kind of impact do you guys use to change tires? i was thinking about getting a cordless impact. would it do the job? or do i need a air impact? thanks...

I ran ITP 22" XC's on the front and 20" XC's on the rear. I had one rear flat but it is small enough that I can plug it and still use it!
We use a Snap-On cordless impact. It has more than enough power for lugnuts!!! If you want one, let me know. We have a Snap-on guy that comes here once a week. It is a little bit pricey at $400 but it is probally the best one on the market. It comes with 2 batteries, flashlite and a case.

Jeez, Snap on is so high. Does it come with any "special" favors at that price?:eek2:

I have a Makita cordless 12 volt impact, and as long as you tighten them with it, you can loosen them with it. I had a razar 2 20" rear go flat on the second lap and all I had to put on was a 4 ply razar. I couldn't believe it, but it lasted all but the last mile of the race.

ROFLMAO:eek2:

Wayne,

I ran 23" Holeshot XCT's up front and 22" XCT's in the rear and never had a flat. When I pitted for Chris Condon, he came in with a rear Razr 1 20" flat on the first lap. All I had to slap on was a spare 22" XCT on a stock rim. He ran the rest of the race without a problem. Seemed like there were alot of razr's slicing up. I know that alot of guys were running them but just seemed like more maxxis flats than itp. IMO

I ran 23 xct fronts and 22 xct rears. Started the race with air in all 4 and finished without a single flat.

Hey 660bigdaddy
That Raptor looks familar. Did a GasGas (yellow number 265)happen to meet up with you on the start of the second lap? If so that was me.

Pappy,
Thanks for the flash back of Wisp.
I know the pic was of the Rausch Creek race, but thoughs rock look like the small ones at are at Wisp. Can't wait for the boulder race. Might just fill my tires with foam to keep from getting flats.

Anyone know of any airplane tires that would fit on a quad?

I didn't ride at rausch, but I have been running the Klaw's for a while now in harescrambles. I had one front flat, but I will wait to pass judgement. They are too inexpensive in my book to not give them a try.

snap on is great but very very pricey,i use a makita 12v that works awsome, and my freind has a milwakee 14v thats works great too.i paid around $260 for my makita. well worth the money in my opinion.

Jeff- Have you been humpin the ITP guy?? Time to get off the old wagon, and get into a real ride. The Kenda Klaws get a 14 out of 10 in my book. Last season on the same set of tires, not one flat. Meek (Jason) who bought last years ride, is still on the same set with not one flat or plug, still in excellent shape after 5 more races and alot of trail riding. Lets see an ITP do that!! I wonder what is on my dale........;)

PS Jeff did ya get a chance to ship the graphics? You guys gonna make it up for another 2hr non-stop trailride this weekend? Dist15 HS in Bedford at Lawrence Country OffRoad??

I am a fan of the Razr's and we are sponsored by them....

at Rausch i had a last minute change and ran Holeshots, (22&20 xc's) w/ beadlocks and had NO FLATS!!!!!!!!

i was suprised last year i kept tabs on several riders and we had a tally of like 19 to 2. 19 flat itp's through out the year and only 2 flat razr's. most of the riders switched up every other race.

I use Razr's and had 1 rear flat at the end after battling for second - I hit a rock wrong and when I felt the rim hit I knew it was going to be flat in a matter of seconds. Same guy I was battling with - Brian Cook - had Razr's on with no flats while taking the same line - I goofed and slid into a rock - a classic error by most - he did'nt. All being said I feel that the Razr's and Holeshots are about the same as for being puncture proof - but I feel a razr will outhandle a Holeshot anyday of the week (for me).
With that being said - I could guantee that I could bust a set of Razr's, Holeshots, and even Kenda's (Kory Ellis was notorious for rolling into the pits with several flat Kendas last year) with a mile of the start of the Rausch Creek GNCC if I wanted too..

just bought the dewalt impact cordless today at our local dealer. 269.00 14.4 volt i think it has 800 sq in torque. about 67 ft lbs. i hope that's enough....when my buddy changed my 2 tires he stripped the top of the lug and jammed in the socket. now all i need is one of those nascar pit dudes or someone like pappy to work the gun for me:D
