Someone enlighten me. How come you can have engine builders do the exact same mods when building an engine with the same stuff you would use, but get greater results. For example, if you get all the materials to build a 416 kit that say Curtis Sparks does and only put it together yourself, how come a Sparks motor will walk all over. I don't konw if I stated my question clearly enough or not, but if ya get what I'm saying tell me why. It's just something I've always wondered.

They do more then just a piston, sleeve, and cam. They go through the ENTIRE motor. Porting/polishing and balance/blue printing, and etc.

That's the thing, some shops take the extra time to balance, port, tolerneces and do all the machine work to a T. They also match components to run optimally together. hope that helps.
