View Full Version : bearing carrier tapered or double row

i need to get a new bearing carrier. is it worth the x-tra 40 dollars to get the tapered carrier. what are the advantages other than the remote zerk fitting and the built in caliper holder. how bout some oppinions.

well tapered can handle 8 to 15 times more side load than doubles. This means a longer lasting bearing setup. But with this setup you lose chain adjustment with it. Double yyou do not but double we need to be serviced more......;) hoped that helped...........

I went with the RPM Tapered Carrier...very nice unit. Although you lose some chain adjustment, I had no problems whats so ever getting my chain tightened up. I'd recommend it to anyone.

i went with the tapered carrier. i figured its worth the 40 dollars x-tra for the remote grease fitting and the caliper mount and if the bearings last longer that makes it even better. we ride in a lot of mud and water so i need bearings that are going to last. thanks for the info.
