Recon Wont Start!!! Help!!!

My friend has a 98 recon that wont start. It has spark, and compression. It just cranks. We think its a carb problem but we don't know what. We cleaned it real good. We took the air box off and we can see the back of the carb. When its cranking and we give it gas, gas shoots out the back of the carb through one of two little pipes that run out the back of the carb behind the choke. What does this mean? Whats the prob???:confused:

Did he take the carb off and put it on backwards ? Also it might not start to well with nothing on the intake side.:huh

My friend's dad has a Recon and it always has problems starting, he had many carbueration problems, the needle was installed wrong from the factory.
