The teeth on my driveshaft are worn down and there is a lot of play in my front sprocket. I don't know what to do, i think i am going to have to get rid of it.

sounds like the shaft bearings are worn. how much play is in it? Does it move up and down or just in and out?

get a new sprocket and see how it is, get a new clip that goes in front of the sprocket too and see if that changes anything.

You are getting rid of your quad because there is wear on the front shaft? Man, thats just part of it. Get a clymers and get to work!:D ;)
Get a new front sprocket and try that first. Its normal to have some play on the shaft. Most do after awhile. My 400 had a good bit of play on the shaft, about 1/8 inch even with a new sprocket, but i never had any problems. Put a new sprocket on it and let it rip. If it skips on the shaft, time to put in a new shaft. I dont think I have EVER seen a shaft strip though.

the clip that goes in front of the sprocket keeps wearing down
