just look around, i asked a guy who powdercoats at a powdercoating shop if he had access to it afterhours and he said yes, and i told him id give him 60 bucks cash to him directly if he wanted to stay after and do it one evening, if your going to do something, do it right ( pappy did everything except the frame)

If the PC chips, ur screwed. You have to get it redone. Where as spray paint can be touched up at any time anywhere for a lot cheaper.

I did mine, I sandlblasted the frame first to get all the old paint off then i had the frame sitting in the sun for a while. Then i put thin coats of primer (2 coats). Set it back in the sun to get the metal good and warm. Then when that was completely dry i sprayed the red very thinly. 3 coats i believe. I was afraid it was gonna chip, but it hasn't yet and it's holding up pretty well so far.

I was thinking about rattle can on a 250x frame, and here are the theories I came up with.

Yes, the powdercoat would be better, and more durable.

The spray paint will definitly chip and scratch easier. However, when it does chip, a little sanding, a little masking, a quick spray, and you are looking brand new within half an hour.

You can accent certain parts of your engine (like your flywheel cover, or just your oil filter cover) quickly and easily with the same spray paint for a trick custom look.

If your REALLY lazy you can leave your engine in while you spray it the first time (although I wouldn't reccomend it), but you can certainly leave your engine in for any touch-ups.

Heck, even if all chips off completely within two weeks, it won't damage anything. All you really lose is the wrench time.
