i am getting a Gas Gas HP300 soon and i need to get some 4+1 offset front wheels to narrow the front down just a little. the bolt pattern is the same as an EX/R/Z/KFX/'dale/predator etc... 4 on 144.

from what i've found out, the hiper carbon fiber wheels rub on the calipers slightly, so i believe i need aluminum ones... i've seen pics of the douglas 'shamrock' wheels & found out they come in 4+1, (they look cool too) but what about others(ITP, Champion, etc.)? what are approximate prices?

also, does douglas make a 10x5 4+1 in the 0.125? ( for my sand tires) if not, what about .160?

The Hipers will work with some minor grinding on the bango bolt. LT250R has done this and it works great!

Jeff:

I recall you liking the hypers, especially for mx. If you don't mind me asking, What are the advantages and or drawbacks of the hypers? In your opinion, are they worth the investment.

thanks....:)

They have several advantages over alum. wheels....
They flex instead of bending
They are lighter
They are stronger
They are modular so you can replace pieces instead of the complete wheel if you do happen to break one.
They have a 1 year full warantee.
You can get 5 different color rings.
The 8" rears have a built in hub.

There are others but thats all I can think of now.
I will never buy another pair of alum beadlocks!

we drifted a little off topic, but thanks for the info. Jeff, can i get a quote?

i don't need beadlocks for my sand tires.... does douglas make a 4+1 in the .125 or .160?

what about ITP, do they make the T-9 Baja in a 4+1 offset?

hmmm...Thank you Jeff! I really like the idea of Less weight. The Ultimates are a little beefy...

Mike do you have the Douglas Ultimates front and rear? If you have the right offset and they are in good shape I would think about buying them. Hiper's would be nice, but they are very expensive...

ITP does not do a 4+1 offset, douglas does a true 4+1 only in the billet wheel.

Your right Dave..you would def like the front end...it's also hard to post parts for sale and not have pics.. can't get my software to recognize stupid camera!

No I do not have the Shamrocks in the rear...Just the front. BL/BC 9" Ultimates on rear...

I would like to have a simple Sony Mavica with a 3.5 disk...I would buy or trade...You can't find them for sale anymore new...

OK so what i have gotten from all this is that there are basically only 2 choices to get a true 4+1 wheel. douglas billet or hiper... and to run the hiper wheels, i have to make a slight modification to the banjo bolt.

i know running +1 A-arms with 4+1 wheels has been talked about as a trick setup for XC racers, are these thier only choices of wheels?

to be honest if i could shave 1/2" or more off the width on each side, i'd be happy. is there any less expensive ways to do it? any wheels that claim a 4+1 offset but are actually 3.5+1.5 or similar?

I was wondering the same. There has to more then just Douglas and Hiper with the true 4+1. What about the OMF Race Rims and the Burgard Beadlocks? Do they come in 4+1? Any others?

Douglas makes the rims for OMF, but I dont know about the burgard.

Also for some reason OMF claims not to have the scalloped type rings avail on the 4:1

ITP does not do a 4+1 offset, douglas does a true 4+1 only in the billet wheel. Interesting then I guess your sending me the ultimates, cool ;)

Thanks Lenny. I think when the time gets closer I will call Burgard, and OMF to see what they offer. If they don't make them I will be going with Douglas because I don't have the money for Hipers.

Those are very nice looking but if I go with Douglas I wil be getting the standard center and not billet because of price. I would like to get the Burgards though if they make 4+1 or can...
