How often should you rebuild your engine for 400? Ive had mine awhile and Im not sure if I should be looking into getting it rebuilt. Its an 02.

I guess it's time to rebuild when you are losing power and the quad gets hard(er) to start.
When you don't notice any problems why would you care to rebuild?
Just my opinion.

If its smoking, has lost power, hard to start or the most important reason....to make it faster. You most likly don't need to rebuild an 02

right on. You don't need a rebuild on an 02.

If you change your oil and filter regularly and keep your air filter clean and properly oiled, then a 4-stroke motor will last quite a while. When you start burning oil, then start thinking about a rebuild, until then just ride and be happy.

BTW, hard starting and power loss can be caused by a number of things (incorrect jetting, incorrect valve clearance, etc), so that isn't always an indication of a worn motor. When the compression drops low enough that it's hard to start and you have lost power, then you'll probably know it's the motor because you'll be burning oil too.

Check the valves as often as you want too. I adjust mine about every 20 hours. Even at 20 hours, my valves are just a 1000's off of what they should be.
