The white bros on my dads 400ex isnt too bad. But I would rather go for the LRD. I think they have more bottom end power. I have ridden my dads before, and I dont really care too much for the LRD, yes it is better then stock. But I would get an LRD.

Out of those two I would get the LRD. But have him look into the Yoshi's .. I love mine and another thing I like about it is that I can make it quite if I want to ( you know how those sound cops can be at the Dunes!! )

The LRD is better. Its also better than a Yoshi, and cheeper than a full Yoshi system. Like phatswinn said an engine builders pipe is going to be better than a main stream pipe builders pipe.

Crutuis sparks!!!!!!

get the x-6 that thing has massive bark to it, i love the sound and the pipe is the best for a built engine.... i have seen people run them and they love em, rode a stock 400 with the x-6, and i have the white bros, the x-6 has a loooooootttttttttttttttttttttt better sound, troque then the white bros... Can't go wrong, sparks was voted best engine builder a while back....

LRD is awsome too for the price, but if i had a choice x-6 would get it for me

05-08-2003, 09:54 AM
i agree with u on the x-6...nice job curtis keep it up ;)...but out of those 2 the LRD is better

I just wanna find a pipe that has tons of bottem end, along with midrange. I dont really care for mid- to top end. I love the feel just taking off out of a corner. So what is the best bottem end pipe ?

I really don't get alot chances to open her up:) But the low and mid are definitely there and its pretty impressive. By the way Doibugu2, I just wanted to say thanks for mentioning the pipe:)

In the May June Issue of ATV sport there was a "pipe shoot out".LRD and White Bros" where both in it. According to their Dyno tests the White Bros complete system puts out more ponys
across the board, peaking out with 27.6hp @ 4500rpm.Lrd peaks with 26.3hp @4500rpm. These were on stock bikes with recomended jetting. How ever Curtis Sparks stole the show with 27.8hp @ 4650rpm.....................

I do remember that issue but I try not to go by what they say!! I've had both, Sparks and the LRD and to me the only difference is the noise. Really, you're only talking about 1 hp difference and you might be able to notice it but for some people, maybe not!!

Just trying to lay out all the info to be of help. There is probably no "seat of pants" difference between all of the after market exhaust manufacturers................

more horsepower isnt always better...

I believe that shootout used LRD's old version exhaust...not very accurate now.

Both version's are about the same (power wise). I have the old and a friend of mine has the new version and there's no difference between the 2. The new style seems to have a throater sound to it though than the old.

I Got a ? about the pipe shoot out. The white bros may make more power for a stock 400ex. but when you modify the motor the Lrd pipe might may be better suited for it and make better power. And since Lrd is a engine builder most of the motors they deal with are modify.

I don't think a whites bros pipes is even in the same league as a LRD pipe or a sparks. I own a White bros and have had a bunch of problems. Both of the mounts have broke. the pipe to the silencer broke right off. Now the air comes out the fron of the silencer.

From every thing I have read about the LRD pipe its more of a bottom-mid range pipe. I like the pipe and probly going to pick it up.

I don't to much about the sparks pipe but I know a lot of poeple on hear that love it and havn't heard to many complants.

Plue I would have to agree thats a Engine build pipe is better than any mainstream pipe. The mainstream pipes ia made work
a stock engine. the engine build makes the pipe to work the head work, piston, cam, carb, and whats the engine builder built the power for.

just do some research, do you plan on any motor mods afterwards. what kinda power are you looking for. buy whats best for you,.
