300ex reverse gears

anyone ever messed with removing the reverse tranny gears on a 300ex?

i'm building a big nasty drag racer and every bit of weight loss is needed.i'[ve already split the cases and have a good idea of what to do but just wondered if anyone has done this?

makes sense, but why the 300 motor?

already had the motor and chassis should run with the big boys.....

yea i hear what your sayin, i know people used to pull the reverse gears out of their 250x's. I'm sure you oculd do it for the 300 but i don't know how or know anyone that has.

anyone else?i think i have it.with all the neccessary gears off the tranny i lost around five pounds in tranny parts alone!!!!!

I just got done putting my tranny back together today, from what I can tell it's just the idler gear that is on it's own shaft that goes though the case on the clutch side. It's 2 gears on one shaft is all it is. I think thats the one you pull out.

what are ur plans for the motor in this soon to be dragger?

lets just say big.it should run a with some of the big dogs.don't know if were doin' nos yet.i'll have to see if this one holds up first.
