He guys i race XC on my 250EX . I want to win more but only plan on keeping it for about 2 more years andi am 14 now. So what i am asking is would it be smart to race it for 2 more years or should i after this season buy a 300EX and race it for a season and then buy a new high performance quad.
I have heard sone bad things about the 300 though, and people have said that the 250 is pretty close to the 300. and that the 300 will break easier. but like i said i will only have it for a year so will this be a smart move?
How much faster is it? Cause they seem a heck of alot faster on the track.

Get rid of the 250,shaft drive will never be as fast. The 300 is a fine machine I raced one XC for about 2 years very reliable(it's a HONDA) The 400 would be a better choice though, better handling, more power, mods out the you know etc...If the 300 is what you want go for it just don't let it be for the reverse.

I agree with Bill, but at the same time, the loss of you buying a 300 for one year then buying another quad, I dont think is worth it. I would just move right up if you can, or bore/mod the 250 up as much as you can... Bigger rears will get you more speed and all the mods will give you the power to turn them :D good luck

The 300's have been around for years and are one of the most reliable quads ever made! I have actually seen more problems with the 400's than the 300's!

the 300's are bullet proof, years of R and D on the 250 x and then the 300 came out, its probly the best quad in its class as a matter of fact its in a class of its own....

The 300EX would definitely be better for racing than the 250EX. However, the 400EX would be better than either one of them. And when the new Honda quad comes out, it will most likely be better than the 400EX. So here's my suggestion. If you're just getting started, then race the 250EX for a while and just get some experience and get comfortable with racing. Then, if you see it's holding you back and you want to continue racing, then buy the best machine you can afford.

Also, as Jeff and Jlhughes said, the 300EX may very well be the most reliable sport quad available. Although the 400EX is a very reliable machine in my opinion, the 300EX is even more reliable.
