Wouldn't the CRF 450 motor be faster than a totally decked out 440 and give a 465 a run for its money, or be about equal to it?

How reliable are the CRF 450 motors?

Just wondering, wanting to put one in the 400EX!!!

it may actually beat the 465 just because of the weight difference....wish i had 1 to put in mine ;)...and they r just as reliable as the 400ex motor...since when has honda not been reliable :macho

450 would pry put out more power than a 465, it would run strait gas, be more reliable, have a lower cg and total weight, liquid cooled, looks cool.

Hey Honda_Racer, I never said that Honda's were never unreliable. . . That is one of the best parts of owning a Honda. Having great reliabilty and there slogan says"Performance First"

Back to the subject, we all agree that the CRF 450 is FAST, and that it is reliable, Service Honda has them for sale for $3,600 and it doesn't include the carb (40mm FCR), the ignition coil, and the CDI box. Sparks says the stock carb is the way to go, and they have a great exhaust system out too. My plan is to, by the CRF 450 and have servicehonda.com ship it to Sparks racing and have them put the carb, ignition coil, and CDI box on for me, and then they can ship it to myself, along with their exhaust. I'll bring the motor to my local Honda shop and have them install and tune the engine to specifications. I hope to get this project done by summer 2004 and would like to know what you think!

Thanks for the input

Sounds good. Only thing that I worry about with any dirt bike motor going into a quad is the transmission, they arent made for the extra strain they get on a quad. I wonder how many gears Tim Farr and everyone else running crf's go threw?
