Just got my order for 14T front sprocket 38T rear sporcket and DID o-ring chain for my 2000 300EX. Got everything apart easily cut off the old nasty chain and started feeding on the new chain and noticed it was long. As in 1 1/2 feet too long. It goes together with the link provided but it is way too long for my 300 EX whats up. I am going to call the retailer I purchased it from to see if they gave me the wrong size chain or is this normal. DO they come in one length and they expect you to shorten it. How do you get the links apart to shorten it then? Can somebody shed some light on this. Yes, this is the first time I have changed my sprockets and chain....:( :( :confused2

Most dealers carry 100 link chains to fit most any machine then you cut them to length yourself with a chain breaker tool.:)

its prob anywhere from 100-120 links , for a motocross bike ,
depending on what you have stock 300ex lenght is 86 links , i dont know what a 400 is , but just cut it to the right length:cool:

First, count the number of links in your old chain. Then count out the same number of links on your new chain and mark it. Take a chain breaker or a grinder (that's what I use) and grind off the head of the pin that holds the links together. After you grind it, take a punch and knock it out. It's that simple. :D

if you have access to a grinder just cut it. chainbreakers are too expensive just to cut a chain.
