i rode a wheelie on my cr.. started in 1st gear all til 5th and had it balanced perfectly, topped fully out ridin a wheelie for about 1/2 mile.. there was a lot of people with me that saw it.. just think about it i dont have a wheelie bar that would have saved me, i was practically straight up and down, and i was fully topped out.. it was crazy.

dam bobby88 that must of been awsome

i had like perfect "form" that day for it.. but then i lost interest after it almost went backwards and my feet were hangin off the back. i have ridden some good wheelies before.. you just got to lose allllllll fear about flipping and go for it.

Probly about a 10ft on my quad lol i havent really tried wheelies at all. In children of the metal god (dirtbike movie) ty davis does a wheelie @ 96mph and does wheelies in circles. preaty sick to me

i can do them for 6 miles with my eyes closed and both hands holding on to the fenders, i gas it with my knee:ermm:

I can wheelie as far as I want, I am so proud now that I can. All it takes is practice. I usually like to do long stretch wheelies on the road, The thing thats crappy about the roads around here is that they slope to the right and the left. Thus making you end up going into the ditch after about 1/2 KM. I usually get all the way up to 5th gear before I have to set it down, without going into the ditch. I dont know how well I will beable to wheelie once I get my 14 tooth on.

Switching gears while wheeling isnt very good for your tranny. I havent been doing as many since, because my friends 2nd gear ***Ked up from switching from 1st to 2nd all the time.

My farthest is about 30 ft. i kinda suck but i need some help i do mine in first or second on my 400 but i don't pop the clutch i just gas it, is this what you guys do because i usually let off because the engine revs up way too high and im not even all the way up any suggestions?

I would shift if I were you. But you have to find your balance point. If your in 1st gear dont be afraid of tipping back. Your grab bar will save you. When I wheeling I cant see infront of me, so I have to like pop my head up to see. It took me quite a bit of practicing to get good. When I had my 300ex, I ran over my foot doing a wheeling in 3rd gear. The weird part is a had nerfbars. I couldnt walk for like 1 week. So it scared me quite a bit.

ive gotten my ex into 5th in a wheelie but that was when it was stock, now that its all nice and the way i want it i dont do long wheelies anymore cause highspeed wheelies suck when the grab bar touches down. not worth a stupid little trick to wrack my quad.

Yeah, thats true. You dont wanna be flyin in 5th gear and screw over your quad. Man, now I dont wanna do long high speed wheelies. Wreck all my plastic, and break myself LOL.

05-05-2003, 02:52 PM
i could wheelie my xr 50 as long as i want but the longest one with a measurement was like 1100 ft

:huh ummmm...how come it isn't good for it? I don't think it's really any different than shifting normally???

Back to the topic at hand....My longest wheelie is probably like 1/2 mile or so, but I can ride them as far as I have room, much like most "wheelie people" can do. Standing up, sitting down, sitting on the handlebars, knee on the seat, standing on the grab bar, any way you do it she can go as far as you want or until you run out of room.

You guys doing them in 1st or 2nd....If you guys can ride them out in those gears you should have no problem doing them in any other gear. 1st gear to me is the hardest to ride long wheelies in (well it's not hard, just harder than the others). 3rd gear seems to be the best for me, just because it comes up with little effort and the power is there incase you space off and drop the front end for a second. 4th Gear works pretty well too. 5th gear isn't bad, but you really have to pay attention cause it's harder to power the front end back up if it drops a little on ya.

Take it easy guys!

At the dunes last time I was out, I hit my sweet spot.. I became really confident on wheeling, and did them for quite some ways. I ride trikes, so I think its harder to find the balanace point on'em, but anyways it seems like once you find the spot, and become confident that your not goin to flip.. you can do them along ways.

How ever I always seem to tip it up, and screw my train of thought up and not be able to wheelie the rest of the day... =/
