which weight oil should i use in about 90 degree temperature extreme riding mostly dragg racing and hill climbing.

10w 40 - 20w 50 i was running 10w 40 and there is a distictive noice in the motor and the oil is really really thin and bubbley on the dip stick is there any thing else that could be causing the noice and bubling?

-20 in warm weather
-10 in the cold
-change it after every other race or so.

I would run the 20-50w in the temp's that you ride in & the kind of riding you do, & make sure you run a good quality oil!!!!
[Honda GN-4 20-50]....

i thought that if you run normal oil in it and then put in synthedic that the synthedic will screw it up somehow. i usually put in castrol gtx 10w 30 and its all bubly

I have been running the honda GN 4 10-40
I live in CA where the temperature is
Winter 35-45 degrees depending where i ride
Summer 75-100+ degrees

It seems to come out very thin after oil changes this winter.
I am thinking about going to a synthetic 20-50 after break in of the new 416 I change the oil and filter after every other ride or every three rides max.

i run golden spectro 10w-40 when its cold but once it starts warmin up i use 20w-50 semi synthetic. i really like the 20w-50 in my 416 just a better weight and does not break down as fast.

The owner's manual recommends 10w40 from under 20 degrees to over 100 degrees.

Personally, I use GN4 10w40 year round and change it every 18-20 hours. Evidentally it is doing just fine, because all the internal motor parts of my '99 EX are still stock and still performing just fine. I have no idea how many total hours are on my quad, but it's quite a few; and it ain't been babied either:macho . I also run GN4 10w40 year round in my Foreman and all the other 4-stroke quads that I've owned in the past (quite a few) without any problems related to oil.

Now, on the other hand (to actually answer your question:D), for drag racing and hill climbing in 90 degree temps, you might want to think seriously about running 20w50 since it is high RPM riding in hot weather. 10w40 would work, but would require more frequent oil changes. Also, for modified motors (big bores) I would say that 20w50 would be the better all around choice to help handle the extra heat and not break down so quickly.

thanks for all the info i just got a 4 quarts of castrol 20w50. that sould work just fine. i hope. anyone got any ideas on the sound tho when its reved in a gear the motor makes like a buzzing noice but it still performs like its brand new.
