I do just because I get the stuff for a good price. My local dealership charges me $4.95/quart for Honda GN oil and I can get Amsoil from a friend of mine who's a dealer for $6.98/quart. I did it for the neat sticker they gave me but to be honest, I haven't felt or seen any real improvement as of yet. But, to be fair to both sides, I didn't look at the cylinder walls before switching oils so there's no real way for me to verify any significant wear protection/reduction and I don't have a laser thermometer (yet :devil ) to tell you if engine temps went down any. But, seat-of-the-pants says there's no HP improvement and I haven't noticed any change in the clutch action.

I used to run HP4 in my 250x because it helped the shifting dramatically. But that is a blend, not a full synthetic.

I wanted to go to a full synthetic to keep good protection even whenI get caught in bottlenecks in the woods and it gets pretty hot, maybe the oil won't break down as fast. Suposedly it has beat Mobil 1 in all tests.

And besides, Mike Larocco runs it, and that means something even though his motor gets rebuilt every race.:confused2 :D

Guy are you sure that is a friend? Our shelf price is $5.70 a quart.. not to be rude but that is over full retail..
I do run this in my bike and seems to keep the engine cooler. I also run this in my vehicle the motor, and transmission and gas mileage was improved.. I am really happy with the 2 stroke oil burns very clean..

Dusty, thank you for the heads up! The oil I've got is Amsoil Formula 4-stroke. I got it through my buddy who works at a Harley dealership and they carry Amsoil. He claimed it was his cost and I never even looked into it. I'll have to mention this to him when I see him next:mad:

It's a new 4-stroke dirtbike/ATV oil that Amsoil just recently came out with. I just looked it up and I could've ordered it directly off Amsoil's corporate website for $6.50/quart so you're right, I got no kind of deal on this oil.

i dont know much about anything, but the guy who owned my old s-10 blazer used amsoil 2.8 liter v-6 it had 133,000 when i got it and i got rid of it at 190,000 miles the mechanic when i got rid of it said that he had never seen a 2.8 make it past 120,000

two weeks later the kid who bought it blew it up, was it how it was maintained? the oil put in it? dumb luck?

i dont know if it made a difference or not, just my experience

How does torco oil hold up compared to amsoil. I think Torco is more expensive too.

www.amsoil.com It is the best !! We run the 0w-40 4 stroke oil in our Dales, the motor and tranny are seperated but I run the same oil in both. Have had ZERO problems. Become a dealer on line and the oil costs about $5.50 a qt. if bought by the case. I go through about six cases a year

Can 0w-40 be run in the 400ex? Whats the pros and cons of 0w-40 as compared to 10w-40? Can anyone become a dealer?

Yes - anyone can become a dealer with a good credit card. I called their tech service and talked to a guy for about an hour before deciding to run their oil in my Dales. They explained all kinds of things that I didn't know even mattered :eek2: The "0" just allows the use of the oil in the winter. (ice racing) the "40" gives you the high temp summer range (+100) I dont know if I'm smart or stupid, but I'm very happy with this oil so far. But remember, I do own TWO Dales :huh and have that new Yamaha WR450 quad ordered :huh What am I, stupid to buy a first year run of a Yamaha product (yup)
