alright me and my dad started talking today about moding the 400 and he said if your really info racing y not make a complete race bike, so ive been thinking y not since i seem to have my dads support anyway.

Im figuring prices tonight and will be buying a frame soon, the crf450 will fit in a stock frame right, just need to mod the engine mounts a little bit?

if you are gonig to be doing it then do it right, yeah you can use a stock frame with some modifcation but you will be better off in the long run with an aftermarket frame :)

after doing a search and reading up on it i think i will go with a yzf 426 instead of the crf i lov ehonda but if i can get the same power, dont have to de stroke for half the price im with yamaha all the way,.

Is there a place only to buy yamaha parts like service honda? and what do you do about the radiators? buy one for a banshee or 250r?

Also can you call up service honda and tell them you need a rollling chassis for a 400ex? i dont want to buy a used on i just want the frame, a arms, knuclks, tie rods i dont need another 400ex motor, or any of that.

What you should do is buy a beat up 400, strip it down, and sell the parts you don't need. You can probably find the right deal if you are patient. Check ebay and cycle trader.

yeah im trying both ways, all seprate parts, and buying a used on on ebay i think buying a used bike on ebay or in town here would be cheaper, theres a guy with a 2002 for sale for 3600 in town.

Where do you buy new yzf engines? and are there any web sites that have plans to modifie the frame for engine mounts?

And for XC racing does the frame need gussets?

I think i will go with a used on to start with then i will have everythign i need minus the 426, then i can mod the chassis from there, if i can pick up one with engine problems for 2k or so that would be great. It will also be easier to get insurance for it because it will have a valid vin # on the frame, even thought the title wont be correct.
