This is what I found. Elka ZPS piggybacks, fronts are triple rate, rears dual rate. He wants $1300. for the set. They are not totally new, he said they have been ridden on twice but in excellent condition. What do you think? It's sounds pretty good, but I'm no expert. Only thing I don't like is that I still would have to pay to have them set up for me. Please help.

whooooaaaa... don't pay 1300 for them. I know for a fact they dont retail that high. that is the price of a brand new set of axis tripples with rebound and compression adjustable. i dont think elka is more than maybe 1200 for brand new.

He's talkin all 3, not just fronts. $1300 sounds reasonable to me.

No, that could be a good price if it's ffor all three. Ask if he'll have them revelved for you for the $1300.;)

My friend got all 3 new for $1,300 though. I'd call Elka and see what they can do for you.

Still there, I can't decide between the (new) ELKA's all around with adjustable everything for $1300. or used Pep fronts for $600. Somebody help me, I have to make my decision tomorrow.

Personally, If I had $1300 total to spend on shocks... I'd get myself a FULL set of new PEP "race" shocks for about $1190.
But If you are very serious about your suspension, not on a very very tight budget, and race, Save a lil more and get a FULL set of TCS SCS' or PEP ZPS for about $1600.

What kind of riding do you do?

I do XC and some MX. I'm doing the WORCS race at Washougal on the 17th, I'm hoping to have some shocks for that. Thanks for the input.

-pep zps (used) $600.00
-revalve and convert stock rear at baldwin's @350.00
-later, service and revalve front pep's if needed @200.00
-total investment baldwin pep's freshened and matched to your weight and class @1150.00

Need I say the inevitable feeling, lol, "priceless"

sounds like a good plan, but a serviced and converted rear shock wont perform nearly as nice as the real thing. I've seen MANY blown from jumping only moderate jumps...
but for light jumping and XC it should be fine

So you all know, I went ahead and got the Pep's. As for the rear shock, I will see if I can score a Pep rear. Do you guys know if it's okay to mis-match front and rear shocks? I know it's best to have them match, but would I really tell a difference? I'm by no means a pro level rider. What do you think? Thanks for the help so far.:)

What kind of peps? And if you bought them new, or plan on rebuilding them, they wont be ready in time for yours race :(
PEP has a really long wait
And it is best to have them match. but as long as you match a zps shock to a zps shock, you'll be fine

The shocks are Pep triple rate with ZPS and remote rezzies. Is there any else that would help identify them? Thanks
