let me guess is your raptor an 2001. Cause Ive heard that raptors are craptors when it comes to destroying clutches. When they came out with the 2001 they had all kinds of problems. Thats why Im on a honda. If you look real close at the word "honda" for 60 seconds, It starts to look like it is spelled "reliable."

If it is only a week old then I think it would be under warranty.. Not for sure I would check where you bought it but I would get an aftermarket clutch..

1 week old ???? Take it back to the dealer. How hard have you been riding it in that week???

ok, whats the benefits of an aftermarktet clutch to a stock?
an is it cheaper for a after market clutch also?

i wasnt riding it to hard i didnt think, im still breakin it in, i got 5 more hours before i can really open it up

it doesent matter how hard u ride, or even if ya cant use the clutch, it takes more than a week to kill it

thats f'ed up,, u mussed a reallay tore that clutch to hell...take it back to dealer, they may give you new 1 under warranty

I'm not knocking your Raptor but if I had a clutch go out on any brand new quad like that \, I would definately be worried about it. Not even broken in yet? That does not make ANY sense.......

Get a Stock clutch nothing beats its durability. If you only have had this one week then take it to the dealer and they should warranty it

it doesnt matter wat year the raptor is 2 of my friends have 2002 raptors and both there clutches went to hell my one friend got a hinson clutch basket and plates and my other friend still has his stock and his is bored up to a 700 and have a 11:1 piston and a dmc alien exhaust and i took it fora ride the clutch is slippen so bad it isnt even funny u try and rip on it and all it wants to do is rev up then it will go into gear and sometimes drop down a gear it is pittiful!!!! ive read at diff web sites that it is happenin to all there clutches i dont think it matters wat year u have the stock clutch just isnt heavy duty enough for the motor and tranny

05-04-2003, 04:04 AM
If i was you i would take that back to the dealer and get it fixed then buy some aftermarket clutch parts like hinson clutch plate and some other stuff to make that thing more reliable...or u can just go with a hydraulic clutch...either way is good i guess but i never heard nething about them hydros...but if i was u i would do that

the problem is notorious and is getting bigger...it could be anoter issue as large as the tranny probs on the 01's

heres the problem...
the clutch basket is developing premature grooves...letting the clutch plates rock a little because of the increased clearance
this adds more stress to the fiber/ steel plates and puts a heck of a strain on everything else......
ive even seen some of the gears on the raptor clutch baskets wear quickly

i think they are replacing the baskets and other internals with some things off their crotch rocket motorcycles:confused:

i would go with a hinson aftermarket, its supposed to be the best. tell your dealer (if its covered under waranty) that you want the price of a stock clutch credited to you towards a hinson unit.

hahaha honda racer thats some wat of a dumb question wonder y but it is funny the reason the craptor breaks down more then the ex its cuz honda is reliable. but dont get me wrong i like the craptors i like there power but yea definently honda is more reliable

the clutch isnt coverd under warranty, an the bloody bike is only 7 days old, 700$ to fix it labour an everythign, its rape!

05-06-2003, 01:57 PM
if the craptor has so much power then y does the 400ex blow it away in a drag and on the track...all u gotta do is build it a lil and then u can say bye bye raptor...and plus that thing weighs a ton and a half...plus handling blows a mo

what does that have to do with the clutch on a raptor? u could do a lil bit to the raptor to ablow the 400 outta the water, ive seen a stock kawasaki 400 with a pipe only kill a done up 416ex. an the raptor has 260 more cc's that if u put the right parts in will kill ur 400exs

05-07-2003, 10:17 AM
