View Full Version : pipe buring rear fender.

right where the headpipe and silencer meet it is burning the plastic. i was at a dealer the other day and there was a 400ex there that sombody cut around where it was burning. has anybody else done this if so do you have any pics so i can get an idea of how much to cut. thanks

buy some heat resistance tape...kind of like tin foil??maybe you could use that instead?? staples it there, thats how mine is done.

there is a little black bar that is held onm by 2 bolts....if that is on there it shouldnt burn...i took mine off when i got nerf bars...then my pipe started to burn my fender so i put it back on and it stopped doing that

Ya, get heat resistant tape (like chimney tape) and put that around that area, you will probaly have to staple it on to keep it there.

yea if u look at the stock plastic it has the heat tape. Its really cheap. Just stop at ur local walmart and pic some up.

i had the same problem with my 300. buy some maier heat tiles from rocky mountain atv and put it where the plastic is melting.

just super glue some of that heat tape to it. I wouldnt use staples, seems kinda cheesy.

staples work fine, thats how mine are on & they've lasted 1000 miles & 60 hours.
