I am interested in getting a new carb for my 400, i wanted to go up to a 38MM and was wondering what you guys thought about boring the stock one. Anyone know how big we can take the stock one to with losing its integrity. And if you guys don't recommend what carb do you recomend performance and price wise.

you can bore the stock carb out to a 38 and i feel as if my 125 bore job was worth every penny

if I were to bore it out, would jetting settings for my mods change or will I be able to leave them as is?

the dude at rockyridge can pretty much put you on the spot where you need to be if you give him all your mods thats what he did with me

are there any advantages to buying an aftermarket carb rather than boring the factory one?

I've thought about boriong out mine but it looks like the flange that goes in the intake would get weak and might possibly crack?

Im just talking performance wise, if the carb only worked for a day at 38 MM would there be any difference in power gains between the aftermarket one.

i don't even really understand what side of the carb is getting bored out. is it where the air enters or exits?

Hey uglymotha

Does rockyridge work out of his house. I have called several times and i am just getting that answering machine voice.
(not his voice, the digital phony voice) Where is he located. I live in CA. The price seems fair. How long does it take to have it done. I am looking at about 2 weeks from sparks and 50 bucks more. Has anyone had sparks do a carb mod. If so how much of a difference is there.

Thanks in advance

Rocky Ridge is a smaller setup.. he works out of a building behind his house.. Ken is his own shop..he's the only guy and does get busy and tied up.. Reminds me of TC racing...one man show but does great work....

Rico, are you going to go with a bored stock carb rather than a fcr 39?

Ken is a good guy. I bought oversized studs from him. Keep trying
He seems to know his stuff
