New Yamaha VERY VERY Soon

Well I got back from the Yammy dealer not too long ago and heard some interesting stuff . I know the guys there pretty good cuz the old man is friends with a bunch of them and we were talking about me getting a new bike . I was trying to decide wether to get a Raptor or a Banshee . Well I told him I didn't really want a banshee cuz everyone around my area has one and I started explaining all the things I didn't like about the Raptor . I told him that I was also considering either the Z400 or the KFX400 . As soon as I said that he asked me when I wanted to buy a new bike . I told him anytime within the next few weeks . He then said " How long would you be willing to wait to get a new bike ?" I told him until the end of June . Then he told me he wanted me to read soemthign and to come up into his office for a few minutes. He pulled this Memo off the bulletin board and handed it to me .

Well heres what it said in my own words ( cuz they use all the big language crap) .

" Do to the ongoing success of the atv market , and an extensive demand in the High Performance market , Yamaha will be unveiling an all new redesigned Sport ATV . The Ban of many 2 stroke ATVs in numerous states and provinces ( aka places in canada) , has lead Yamaha Corp . to release a four stroke Sport ATV that will change lead the way in the ATV Industry. This ATV will phase out the decade old Banshee that has dominated the 2strokes since it's release in 1987 . We are very pleased to announce this , and hope that you will help us celebrate the release of this all new Sport ATV before summer is in full swing "


Thats a summary from what I read . I asked him when he thinks Yamaha will be releasing the bike and he said that he figures it will be towards the end of May to mid June ( Yammy did the same style Memo/Press release thing with the Raptor and the 660 Grizzly)

Unless I hear promising news from Honda before Yammy does release it , looks like I might be ridding Blue ( or whatever color they offer) by mid summer or next fall .

Interesting info...but Yam hasnt even released "real" info on it yet...muchless have it on the showroom floor by this summer. Thats unusual, but I dont keep up with Yamie much. :ermm:

the quad market is going to get realy awsome real soon. by this time next year. We will see competitive machines in the 450 cc size by all the major manufacturers. All this stuff has to have some truth to it. Atleast on of the manufacturers are realisng something new. The biggest evidence of this is the Gnc's pro production cc limit bieng moved up from 440 to 450 just before the racing season started. It was originally planned to be only up to 440 just like the pro class. But one or more of the major manufacturers had a meeting with the gnc to bump it up another 10 cc's. My opinion it should be 500 cc's for the preds. and the ama supercross is 550cc.. I heard some interesting things from KTM too. But i have realy no hard facts on anything. Basically we are all in this together. But im willing to bet yammy will be the next big surprise.

Yamaha has the WR 450F that has electric start for woods racing, and the YZ 450F that just has the kick start for MX.

P.S. I'm talkin about bikes, obviously.

Tim Ferry is racing SX w/ the YZ 450F... crazy fast bike. 55 + RWHP, and weighs about 217 lbs.

I know the 426 is potent and has been described as having a two stroke snappiness to it, but I talked to a guy at the Yamaha dealer the other day, he said his choice would be the new 450 as well. He mentioned that it had the powerband nearer to a Banshee than any four stroke he'd ever ridden. He said it had explosive top end. Of course this was in a bike, but still...

Hey why does the AMA and GNC keep bumping up the displacement limit for 4 strokes (400, 440, 450, etc) while the 2 stroke limit stays at 265? Come on, you bumped the 4 strokers up 50cc's, at least let the 2 stroke guys run 300's now. I guess they want to see 2 strokes phased out as well...

From what I heard this quad is suppose to be awesome. It is suppose to have the power of a 310R and handle like a it has a Laeger Chassis. Also, it comes with Front Shocks with Ressy's. I am believe they might be adjustable. I heard 5 speed, but I haven't heard about reverse, but I think it will probably have it. The dealer show is beginning of June, so it should be in dealers by the End of June I think.

I am excited about it, but I already have two Z400s and won't be getting anything till next year.

I assure you that this is no joke.

Don't expect the new Yammy to handle like a Laeger chassis, or any stock Honda chassis for that matter. It will have the WR450 motor in it with electric start and piggyback front shocks. Yamaha is supposed to have the official press release the first of June.

Also, about Honda. Don't hold your breath on it being out this fall because we probably won't see it in 2003--maybe in 2004.

Honda is just lazy. I don't care what anybody says, it DOES NOT TAKE THIS LONG TO DEVELOP A QUAD :mad: . hehe. Why don't you guys try being PERFORMANCE loyal instead of brand loyal. All of you that talk about waiting on Honda instead just because they have a very reliable 400cc motor that doesn't even put out 30 HP. HAHA, anything can be reliable if it's THAT detuned, and ANYTHING can be reliable if you quit being lazy and try to do regular maintanance on it.

My opinion of the new Yammy--I don't have one. I don't know any specs on it and it would be unfair for me to say it will suck or be great. Some things did look pretty cool and somethings didn't.

Heres the low down from one of the most reliable source out there . WR 450 motor with Raptor style frame which has been tweaked a little bit . Overall finish on the bike looks good. Frame looks to have weak spots . Smooth hood as compared to the Raptor's slotted grill , but look very similar to each other . When it comes out , you can say you heard it first from me . Theres a reason why I haven't bought anything yet . :D

i would think since its a 450 its gona have a good frame and awesome shocks because thees just too much motr for stock shocks and a stock regualr frame.

ill bet it will have aftermarket shocks and will look nothing like a raptor!

Well, I'm not a Yamaha fan and I LOVE IT so far! That looks awesome! Kudos to the people who gave a heads up on it.

I love honda, but as far as i'm concerned they are ball lickers! Lets do the math: Kawasaki: 2 new sport quads(KFX400, V-force), Yamaha: 2 (660 raptor, new 450), Suzuki 1 (Z400), Polaris 1 (predator), Honda: ZERO!!!!
