What is the best drop in cam for mx and dunes for a 416? compression would be 11 to 1. I have heard hot cams have some problems. Who else has a good drop in cam it would be a 416 with a 39fcr. what drop in cam would work best with this setup? also you think I would need a rod for only 11 ro 1 . how close is 10.8 to 1 and 11 to 1 will i be able to tell a difference between the two? Cause I can get a 10.8 way cheaper than a 11 to 1 . thanks for your infi in advance!!

The piston will be a 10.8:1 from either ross or JE if you use thinner head and base gaskets it will get you to the 11:1 or a little more. Hot cams have only had 30-50 bad cams and that problem is fixed so don't let that get in the way of your decision.. If I did not know that the problem was fixed I would have put a different cam in my bike.. I have a larger oil tank on my bike to help with the cooling and I also run 50/50 mix of race gas..

how much of a difference is your bike then stock? Do you run the fcr also?

There is no comparrison from stock to 416 Huge difference, try riding a stock bike after you have been on a 416 makes you kind of laugh :D I just recently put a 39mm FCR on my bike..

Hot cams is a good choice. That with a 416 and you will run away from stock or piped 400"s

i run a tc mx grind cam in my 406... it pulls hard all through the power band... 205$ + stk cam

for my piston i'm at 10.8:1 compression and i'm running 94 octane gas in it...

to cool my motor a lil bit i have TINNER air scoops... helps get more air over the motor... you can see them in this pic...

pump gas and air scoops

air scoops will do more than a oil tank and its 150 dollars less

Can you PM me a price package on the 416kit w/a drop in hot cam(stage II)? I would like to go with the highest compression possible running pump gas so I don't know which gasket I would need. Also, what is the price and performance difference between the JE & Ross Piston.

I ride mostly trails and like lowend torque if it matters...

Thanks,

Justin

I am running the HRC cam in my 416 with a JE 10.8-1 piston.
Just got it broke in and it pulls very well from bottom through the top. HRC cam is a little spendy (275) although is honda quality ;)

I would also look at the sparks aggressive cam

I really like my set up too.Not sure about other pistons but the ross revs pretty fast.I rode a friends that had a 440 with a 41fcr.He said it wasnt jetted right but it didnt have no where near the snap that mine has.I was rather impressed with mine after riding his.I love this set up it ROCKS!
