Alright all... I bought my first quad... a 400EX... still waiting for it to arrive. Now the search begins for my girlfriend's quad. It doesn't have to be anything special, basically just realiable, decent looking, and CHEAP. I'm thinking late 80's, early 90's.. 4-stroke... 250-300cc... just something she can follow me around on. She doesn't care about jumping/racing/etc, just wants to cruise around and have a good time. So what should I be looking for that would be in the $1500 range? Is this a reasonable goal? I posted a message in the wanted ads as well, but I need some direction as far as what I should be looking for...

Thanks!

Aren't 250X's 2-stroke? Or wait is that the 250R? Sorry, I'm new to this whole thing. :) I just know I'm done with 2-strokes and redoing top ends all the time like back in my dirt bike days...

and by the way, it doesn't have to be a Honda... as long as it's something with a good reputaiton for reliability and has parts readily avbilable, etc...

250EX but it will cost you about $2200 for a cheap used one.

You could luck out and find a good 250X (four stroke by the way) but I still recommend the 250EX.

Maybe a Trailblazer even. A little heavy but automatic.

You have to give her something with reverse.

Maybe get her a 4x4 even. That way she can pull you out of the mud since you dont have reverse?
:D

250ex, 250x, mojave, lakota, that new suzuki 250 would all be good and reliable.

No, no, no. Nothing with a kick start. Anyone who has ridden a Mojave in the water or mud has surely had their shin darn near cracked open by that he|| bent kick starter.

pick up an early 90's Polaris Trailboss. they are fully automatic, 4-stroke. most are 250cc, one year there was a 350, 02 was a 325, now its a 330. they sell very cheap too.

man get her a 250ex or a 300ex.. they are a lot reliable.. a girl dont want to get off and push for reverse.. but if she wants full blast fun.. get a 400ex.. these things are bad a**...

my 300ex personally will leave a 400ex.. 300ex's come with a variety of parts.. and cheap 2!!... if she wants to upgrate.. do what i did :p :eek2:

well depends on if shes aggressive or if she wants somethin easy to ride... a 250x is a kick start four stroke (it has reverse) its a nice quad, i love mine but i think im sellin it tomorrow.. and im movin on to a Cannibal.... If shes the type of rider I am......... get somethin like a 400ex :)
