Do they help you miss fewer shifts? Is it hype or not?:confused2

Personally, I think they suck. I put one on and in its first HS, I stripped it on the first lap. You do get a more positive feel, but aluminum is always gonna be softer than steel. I will say that I called Pro Design, and they offered to give me another one for $20 if I send mine back, but to be honest, I don't want another one. I'm looking to go with a Roll Design stainless steel shifter.

Like this one? Anyone else using the Roll shifter?

i have a pro design, no problems here, i can see it being easier to strip but if you keep it tight it shouldnt....i mean all the pros use them so they cant be that bad...what does that roll go for?

I have a Cascade gear slammer and really like it over the stock one on my 250R. I think they make one for a 400ex too. It wasn't too expensive either, something like $40.

It's not hype.. I think the price is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to steep but you'll hit gears much better with it. My stocker was wore out and would bend with ease after about 6 months of riding. The pro design shifter is a good improvement I think.. And mine has never stripped out after 2.5 years of use..

I wish Roll made them for my Motor YZF

My pro design didn't seem to help my shifting that much more, but it does look much better than stock, lighter than stock, and feels just about the same as the stock shifter but a bit easier to throw around...

I think those shifters really do help....
The companies who are selling them RIP US OFF!

Sorry but I'm a tightwad, and that's a stupid amount of money for a shifter.

$24 for a stock 400ex .

That's the one I'm going with... IMO stainless steel will hold up 10X better than aluminum, and I had no luck with aluminum...

I got the cascade gear slammer. I was going to get the Roll shifter, but I had a $50 gift certificate for Cascade. It came out to $55 or $59 or something. It flexes less than the stock ones, which makes shifting easier.
I can't imaging shifting hard enough to strip it and need a steel one instead of aluminum. You are supposed to land on your footpegs, not your shifter! haha
