i recently bent a tierod on my 02 400ex and was wondering if anyone knows if theres a place to buy stronger ones somewhere. A freind of mine told me to go to Lowes and get some iron water piping so the tir rod just fits in the pipe and cut it to just meet at the theads and then tack weld it and this will make the rod stronger. just wondering if anyone knows of any other ideas.

I beleive ricky stator makes tie rods for stock length arms and I bet you could call houser racing and get a set of his tie rods,,,I've got them and there about twice as thick as stockers and there nickel plated too..I don't see bending these bad boys..

Keep the stock tie-rods - they're only about $3.50 from Servicehonda.

There's a reason Honda designed them to bend when you smack a tree or the like - it's to protect the aluminum steering knuckle. If you break the knuckle you will wish you'd bent a $3.50 tie rod instead.

I race cross country and bend tie rods fairly often - with as cheap as they are, I keep spares in the truck.
