Hey fellas,

I tried to do a search, but wasnt much help.

This mainly for the dune riders. I have a new 416 11.2:1, and stage 2 on the way and was wondering about gearing.

I only ride the dunes, 6 foot, 225 pounds..:eek2: sand sharks rears..

let me have it...........

how about a 16-tooth up front & stock rear or a 36????

I thought about the 16t, but am not willing to sacrifice my case to do so. I was thinking more along a 15-37.....15-36, just like you suggested.

thanks for the input.

I run 14/39 at the dunes w/ 20" Sand Skates. I know it's low, but I don't typically get into 5th gear at the dunes, so I gear low & keep the RPM's up. For drags, I start in first, but I shift almost immediately (sp?), and for general riding, I usually ride near the top of third or bottom of fourth.

BTW, you can run a 16t sprocket w/ the stock casesaver, but it's a PITA to get it on. You have to put the sprocket in the chain, hold the case saver in place & slide everytihng on at once. I have a 16t, but I don't care for it. The top end is nice, but you loose so much bottom that IMO it's not worth it.

I run 15/36 on my 426 and it seems to work great. If I have the stock rear one I can't keep the front end off the ground. SO 15/36 "I think" is a good combo.

15/36 is probably the ticket.. I run it in MX and it lets the gear pull longer which you'll need i would think...

I am running a 16/38 seems to work good.. what ever you do don't try a 16/36 bad news no bottom end. I always thought that I was running stock gearing until this rebuild and SUPRISE 16/38 :eek:

Yah, Dusty, I talked to Colby about that, but he informed me that you are also a buck 25, soaking wet, with all your gear on. I weigh in at just about double that. ! 16T I believe is to tall for my weight.

I run a 14 tooth up front most of the time. it makes it alot easier to get the tires to slip which is very useful in turning at the dunes.

I go back and forth with my 426. I like a 14t sometimes. It gives a lot of zip down low. Right now I run stock. This works a little better for me, I like having the top end speed. I think you should try a 14t. It fits your riding style very well. It will make climbing dunes easier. You will be able to climb anything at Glamis in second and the hills you couldn't pull in third you will be able to now. It's worth trying for under $20

No you did not OFFED me but you did OFFEND me JUST KIDDING..
and for the 16 tooth you can use a magnum case savor also.. I don't believe that the nacs one will work too thick for the 16tooth
