Some of the others on this site are using the Emgo oil filters part number 10-99200 will fit the 2002 400ex as that is what I have and have gotten the Emgo filters for mine but have not used one yet and the $2.00 and some change price from rockymountain sure beats the over $7.00 price for the OEM filter.

I use the STP brand. you can get them at Auto Zone and they also come with a new o-ring for the cover and they only cost $2.95.

I just bought a Fram filter today at the auto parts store. It came with the rubber gasket also.--Any thoughts on this filter?

what was the part # for the fram you bought?

Carlj75, two of my buddies went with the Fram filters. They both went to change oil/filter at the same time and noticed both of the Frams were cracked in half:huh Unknown why, but needless to say, they are back to using the Honda ones. I use Honda ones, simply because it gives me a good reason to go to the Honda dealer and hear/see whats new.

The part number for the STP oil filter is SMO-15. I have been using them since my first oil change....around $2-4 at the local AutoZone
