I am buying a 426 pistion and i wasnt sure if i am goina go with JE or ross. Which is better and which is cheaper. I live in canada so everything is expensive. Also where do i get a 426 sleeve from. I am getting port and polish and stock carb 37.5mm and a custom made header. Other mods underneath.

the 426 is not a sleeve youcan buy it is simply the largest displacement the stock sleeve can be bored to. i would go with ross and i have not heard anything bad about them, but if you did a search on pistons im sure it will come up with results. "Which is better and which is cheaper." this statement is just plain weird because usually the more quality something has the higher priced it is. a port and polish would help alot and im not sure how a custom made exhaust would work seeing as it would be cheaper and better to go with a proven product that a company has somtimes spent months developing for the most power, in my opinion start with the 416 and then move up cause if your engine gets messed up and it is a 426 than you have to resleeve, with the 416 you always have more room.

where do you buy gaskets for it or do you just modify the stock one and what is a thin gasket that will work for my setup? Also how much Hp should i b putting out. lets say it is a R4 race exhaust.

I curently run a ross 426 and love it. The ross is a better choice IMO because it is lighter than the JE. You can get your gaskets at C&D, they have cometic flexsteel in a 426. Or you can get a modified steel stock gasket from sparks racing. I havn't had real good luck with the cometic.

34-36 hp I don't think your going to beat craptors though. Through the first three gears mabey. Remember your racing a 426 against a 660. It's just to big a differance.

in my experiences a piped/jetted raptor doesnt give me any trouble till i hit fourth
and then i can ride their arse all the way in top end...but wait...i guess that could be partly due to my 36 tooth rear sprocket!! :D
