View Full Version : stock gearing?
what is the stock gearing for a 300EX? and should i get a bigger front sprocket when i order my sparks?
im ordering a sparks x-4 k and n power kit and i have my airbox lid off do u think moving from a 13/38(stock) to a 14/39 would b a good idea?
I would just move to the 14 that will gain about 5mph, moving to 39 out back with the 14 will lessen the gain probably to about 3mph. I hear that 14, 36 is a good gearing for the 300ex with a pipe I'm guessing 5-8mph faster total, but don't quote me.
but thats still one tooth less than stock:( i dont get it
i know with the front when u gain one you get top speed and when u lose one you gain acceleration but whats with the rear sprocket?
See if this helps, with the countershaft
more teeth=more speed
Outback less teeth=more speed
The numbers on the chart is the rear sprocket divided by the countershaft sprocket. Lower number is higher top speed, higher number is lower top speed.
Hope this helps straighten some of it out for you.Gearing Chart (http://www.sidewindersprockets.com/images/ratioa.gif)

13/38 is stcok gearing, i have a pipe and filter and the stock gearing works good for me, but the sparks may give more power then my white bros and you have your lid off, so i say go with 14/38, just one tooth up on the front
alrite thanx jus wanted to get that one cleared up in my mind thanx
