Experienced 440 builders/need help fast

Im finding it impossible to slide the cylinder down past the oil rings of the piston. It seems the 440 sleeve is not tapered at the bottom. Should the sleeve be tapered???

I also had a ****** of a time doing my oil rings as well. It finally took 3 sets of hands to get them compressed enough to go in.

Rent or buy a ring compressor...

In dirtwheels they said to take some sand paper to the bottom of thr cylinder to make that easier:confused:
