Has anyone had this problem with there 400ex?? When I go to start it, it hesitates for a sec and then turns over. But, this happens everytime I go to start it:confused: I tried charging the battery and looks fine. I checked all the connections and there all ok. It is a 99 and I've had the same battery since I bought it new. I do have minor motor work done. Any other suggestions would help!! Thanks

Can you define hesitating in an example?

Like delay from when you press the starter button until the solenoid engages and rotates the starter?

Or is it a lagging of rotation like the starter is sluggish at first and then turns the motor over normally? ?

If the solenoid is responding when you press the starter button a weak or carbonized contact may delay the starter rotation until the contact fully seats passing starter current. Check the handlebar switch through to the starter and battery wire connectors and ground points. You may have a starter issue.
