View Full Version : Polishing the inside of your carb

My buddy told me that if i polish the inside of my carb it will allow better air flow and i will notice i difference, has anyone tried this cause i never seen it posted befor on here, soomeone want to give it a try and let us know how it comes out

the theory is right never treid it tough might as well take the choke of while you are in there and then your going to have to rejet

i removed the choke on my ole 300 and polished the air filter side of the carb and then roughened up the motor side of the carb with 80 grit sand paper noticeable difference in throttle response...also went to a 42 pilot jet

Just don't damage the little brass thing (i.e. the accelerator pump)that is sticking out of the bottom of the carb on the filter side.

I did it on mine when I removed the choke. You don't want it too smooth, because you want the fuel to atomize correctly.

yea...ive thought about this also.only i wasnt gona just polish mine...i was gona port mine also....then polished the air filter side and get the other side smooth....but not completely smooth...leave like a 180-220 grit finish....or just sand blast it and clean the **** outa my carb
