Pit bikes

I have a question for those who have pit bikes to use at the races. I have a chance to pick up an older (91 i think) model pw80. It's a two-stroke and in really good shape. It sits really low, not much bigger than an xr50. I wouldn't mind having an xr50, but they are hard to come by, and are several hundred dollars more than I can get this pw80 for.

I know the big craze right now is to have an xr50, because there are a lot of kits and accessories for them, so they can be hopped up a bit, but I don't have a tremendous desire for that. I just want a good bike to get around on at the races. My question: is a stock xr50 good enough to haul myself around on? (I weigh 160) and are there any other reasons (besides honda bias) that I shouldn't get this pw80 instead of finding an xr50 for more money?

well we use an XR70. It has bout the same power as an XR50 but is taller. We just threw on a pro circuit pipe and it works great. The PW80 should be fine. Go with that.

I have a XR50 and they make awesome pitbikes. Those bikes go pretty fast too. One time I rode next to a Honda Rancher through a field and the kid riding the Rancher said I was doing 35mph. Ive seen it pull bigger people than you (over 200 pounds) around good and they jumped their 50 and stuff and had no problems.

pw is a slug xr is the only way to go

Last night I went down the road with my XR50 and the kid on the motorcycle following me said that I was doing about 40mph but thats all that it would really do topped out.
