Could everybody please post what gearing you're running. I just want to see what the general concensus is. Make sure you post your tire size and what type of riding you do!

That's exactly what I want. Now, stock gearing is what on the 400ex? 15 front and 38 rear????
I should remember because I had an ex. Keep'em coming!

14/39 20inch rears and 22 inch fronts Ohtsu
13/38 22inch rears and 22 inch fronts

Mainly for the desert. Top gear you are cooking along pretty good. Gotta make sure tires are somewhat balanced otherwise you really feel the tires. If the rims are out of round you really feel it as well. Everyones rims are round right, never hit any rocks, EVER......Lmao

I have been running 16/36 with 20 inch Holeshot MX up front, and 18 inch Tamers out back. I really liked that setup, but I feel it is just too hard on the clutch, so today I switched back to the stock 15/38. I don't really like it like this, so I think I will either go back to the 16 tooth in front, or the 36 tooth in back. With the 16/36, it really hauls ***, but it bogs down a bit too much in tight corners. Otherwise, I LOVE it that way. :D

20' MX's front and either 18" MX's or 18" MXR's on rear

race MX

well, on most tracks with the MX's i run 16/36, except really small tight tracks. now with the MXR's i run 16/37, i have a hard time cuz of the traction, and 15/37 on small tracks.

20 inch Kenda Knarlys
15 front Renthal Steel
39 back Sunstar Steel

I race XC and do a little motocross. This gearing is like losing 1/3 of a tooth in the front. So it's between a 14-38 and a 15-38

Well as I've posted before, I run ITP holeshot XC's front and rear(20") and 15 / 36 gearing with a 100% stock motor. I ride aggressive XC type woods riding. This combo is great if you don't like to poke around real slowin the woods. You have to keep ready with the clutch only through places that you are "almost stopped" slow. Great acceleration and long pulling gears, and VERY nice on open stretches.
Why is everyone running a 16T front i assume without a casesaver? I'd be afraid of a derailment of the chain wiping out my case. Rebel Gears sells rear sizes down to a 32T to allow running of the 15t front to achieve similar ratios. JMO:huh

11X, the 16T that I saw was running a aftermarket case saver... it was so thin, I'm not sure what is was worth though.. :eek2:

Stock motor, mostly xc, 15/38's with 20" Badlands (haven't tried out my new Shredders yet). Gearing is great in the woods if the trails are little slick. If its dry, the 15 is a tad tall to work around in the tight spots without a little clutch work. 2nd and 3rd gear 90% of the time, 1st gear is only good for straight up hills and the really tight stuff.

i have a case saver i bought from white bros, and it fits perfect with my 16 tooth front sprocket. as for the rear, i have a hard time changing my 36 tooth sprocket, IMHO anything smaller, then u would have to remove the axle to get the sprocket on.

That set up should put you very close to the stock ratio. (front more torque- rear more speed= about stock):huh Figure what area you are trying to improve and work toward that.
