Hey guys, my old style elkas and my rear stock shock are old, and are too small for what i'm putting them up to. I need to upgrade, but on somewhat of a low budget. I heard works make good shocks for the price. i just want to know your imput on these shocks
ProSeries Piggy back shock w/compression/rebound adj, mx config.

i just found out they are a lot...like 800 somethin. thats more than i want to spend. I talked to Yann at Elka, i may end up sending my fronts there to get revavled, and set up with a dual rate setup. it'll be a lot cheaper. these elkas hold up really good, for right now. but this year i've got some abuse planned..

i have works at steelers on the front of mine, they are the triple rates, no rezzies. i love them. i cant compare them to elka, but compared to stock they are great!

Hey 250R is there a big differance between stock and the works triple rates? I was thinking about getting some works for mine, are they worth the money?

i havent had them on the mx track yet, but on the fast rutted nasty trails that i ride, they are kick ***** compared to stock

There is a huge difference. I have triple rates with rezzies and I love them. They are not the best shock you can buy. But for the money you can't go wrong.

why not send your elka's off and have them rebuilt to your new specs????? Probably easier and cheaper..:ermm:

Well, I just put a pair of Works dual rates with rezzy's on my 300. There is no comparison to the stock shocks. With these on it is like riding a new quad. If I had a 400 I would have spent a bit more and bought something with preload/rebound adjustment. But for the 300 these are working great. I didn't bottom out everytime I hit a bump. That made all the difference. Unfortunately I may have to replace my rear as well. It didn't hold the ground as well as the front.
Your key words are good shocks for the price. From my riding with mine I would say this is true.

Ditto. Top of the line works shocks (pro series) are like $800, and for that price you can get brand new Elka. The only way you are going to save money with Works is their bargain low-end shocks, and I'm still pretty sure that you can get your existing Elkas rebuilt better AND cheaper.

I would just send them to Elka to have them rebuilt and updated or call Derisi and see what he can do...

from what i hear, them Works Pro Series shocks are the stuff, 5/8in shaft, just like axis, and its got a decent body and can and stuff, i would buy it if i had the cash

I'd run works pro series shocks any day..i think there pretty sweet and I know they'd work like a champ.. But if NTP has elkas already it would be much cheaper to have them rebuilt..he pays for springs, valving and oil..and he's done..nothing like buyin a complete new set of shocks..

i decided i'm sending my rear to elka in a week or two to get converted. then i'm either sending my front elkas in to get a dual rate setup, oil chasnge, all that good stuff. or, Yann said i could get a set of tripple rates w/o a resevior. he said they would holdf up just as good as a shock withy a resevior. what do you guys think? thanks,
Wes

They will hold up the same without the rezzies, but they will get hotter and fade in a race quicker...
