I have a JE416 11:1 with Stage 2 hotcam and port & polish. I only have a few hours on the motor and I've been running pure 100 octance fuel (not boosted). I was wondering what others were running with this setup. I was thinking of trying 50/50 mix with 93 pump gas.

50/50 will work okay. If you're racing, I would stick with the pure race gas during the races, and the mix for practice or general riding.

Yea I agree. Its not worth running pure race gas for trails and joyriding.;)

I run about a 60/40 mix of pump and 110 octane race gas. This still isn't totally necessary, but it runs cooler this way. It really isn't that bad for me either, because I get the 110 at the pump for $2.29/gal.

50/50 sounds about right for that compression.

Mine runs fine on 91 octane. 11:1 is not that high for an aluminum headed engine with a healthy cam. If you're getting detonation on pump gas, then you need to jet up.

I don't see how jetting up would help with detonation????

do u have to run race gas with say a 426 with 11:1 compression and a port job? i know this is for a 416 but it seems kinda dumb to start another thread for a simple andser like yes/no

The extra fuel acts a coolant and suppresses the detonation. My 416 ran best with a 170 main when I first put it together. But it had tons of detonation, and ran hot, when I pushed it hard. Stepping up to a 175 main cured the detonation and the overheating.

I see your point. I tried that and I still had detonation, plus I lost power from being to rich. So for me at 11.2:1 I have to use a 50/50 mix

I haven't done it in a while but this weekend at the MX track I ran pure 110 and I forgot how much more pull I get from running that over 93.. Wow is all i can say...I'll run a 50/50 mix from this point on...:devil
