i have a 250ex and i was thinking about getting works or elka shocks. what does the rezzie do and is it need. is it worth the extra to get them or not. what about shocks what are the best to buy for jumping or the mx track.

oh i picked elka because they are the best quality shocks i know other than axis which i dont think they make for a 250EX but ive seen works dual with rezzies for a 250EX for like 400$

The resivoir holds more fluid so that your shocks can survive longer without running into fade as they heat up. If you race MX or desert (any type of continuous abuse) I'd definately get rezzies. For jumping once in a while I don't think they make any difference.

I wish I had the $$ for the rezzies. I just ordered Works dual rates for my ride and can't wait till they get here! I know Elka makes shocks for the 250ex, but the non-rezzies are like $515!:eek2:

I gave you a vote for Works. Simply because that is what I just put on my 300. I have only rode them once, but they rode great. If you had a 400 or something else. I might have voted differently. By for a 250ex, works should be fine.

to be honest with u and i'm not tryin to flame here...

but on a 250ex u'll never be able to ride it hard enouf to need a set of shocks like elkas or axis or ohlins or even works with a rezzy... i mean a 250ex just don't have the speed or even designed to jump or ride fast enouf that the rezzy or the better quality shocks owuld show...

yes the SSD may help it handle since it would be lower but besides that they would be a waste...

if it were me with a 250ex i'd get works with no rezzy jsut bc of the fact that the 250ex is not made to be jumped or raced hard... i can see buyin works though for a smoother ride...

once again i'm not flamin or puttin down the 250ex just stating my opinion on it...

Tommy,
I have to disagree with you on that one. I've seen a few 250ex's that could really use some suspension under them. In fact, I race with some people that have them. One kid is argueably way too fast for the quad. But if he got some suspension, he could go faster.

I agree 100%...sure theres a few people out there that could really use some of the best shocks available on their 250ex, but for the most part, a set of Works will be just fine.

i agree with u that he could go faster...

but the quad basically can't handle that and its not made for it... if he would save the money from the shocks and sale the 250ex he could go out and buy a new 400ex or a used one and smoke it still... not only would it have more power but it would handle better... its sorta like cuttin ur nose off to spite ur face by sayin look i have axis shocks on a 250ex but in all reality the axis will never show bc the quad just cant' perform good enouf to show the differnce... yes it may soak it up a lil bit better then the works but 700$+ better no way...

Ok, I have a 250ex, and have been riden it since October of 02..... Ive jumped 50 footers, climbed hills, run over rocks, and landed hard after jumpin of small ledges.... I still dont see a need for a new set of shocks...... either that or because im gettin a new 400:D .....

But anyway, if you were to get a good pair of shocks, get Works cause they are the cheapest and they will do just fine for a 250's needs.

yeah, that 250ex is gonna be junk after a month if your riding it hard enough to need axis shocks, sell the 250ex and take the 700 u were gonna spend there and buy a 300 or 400 ex

yeah looks like i want to get a 400. it's just my parents are aganist a new one. but i think i can talk them into it. the more i thought about the dumber it would be to buy shocks for the 250.

My question is, why do you guys with 400ex's and 250R's come in here to rag on our quads and tell us where doing wrong and we should buy a quad like yours? Do you go to the bottom of the forum page and type in "250ex" in the search column, then enter everyone and tell them their quad is slow and pathetic? The only reason I say this is becase EVERY post that somone says their going to do something to their 250ex, some guy comes in who rides a 400 and tells us we are wasting our time on messing with the little ex.

I think because basically no matter what u spend on that 250ex it will still be slower than a stock 400. Then u will have an expensive 250ex that wont sell for more than a normal one.:ermm:
