i just rebuild my motor, it was running on the lean side and the person who re-assembled the motor had the rubber gasket pinched and it let all the oil out during a ride, so when i got home i filled it up and went out the next day, an hour after i left it started making a loud knocking noise in what appears to be the top end, it sounds like a valve is hitting the piston, i just want to know if that could be due to running it on the lean side or if it could have been assembled wrong ( the oil started leaking after the break in persiod, about 2 hours of 20 minutes 1/2 throttle and 15 minute cooling periods)

Well if the valve is hitting the piston it won't be running much longer. I would take it back to the person that built it and let him look at it.

It could be the cam chain.
It's sounds like a valve but it's the chain who make the sound.
If you did not change the chain, maybe it's time to do it.

make sure ur valves are adjusted right... u mayb hearin them pinging...

the knockin noise could also be the 8mm wrench he left in there:eek: haha j.k
