View Full Version : 300ex light relocation

im going to relocate my light on my 300ex. i got a fox fat bar pad, and it looks way cool, so i had to move my light because of those little metal tabs on the light bracket that hold on the plastic key holder. anyways, i'm going to put the light down behind my bumper so that the light shines out through the arc at the top (stock bumper) i saw it in an atv sport-the 2001 sport quad buyers guide, on a project fourtrax90. but i cant figure out how to secure the light. does anyone have any input?

I did this a while back to mine and made a thread but I came up with the idea myself.I thought I was pretty clever but you said they did it on a 90.Oh well.:(

I relocated my 300ex stock light to behind the front bumper, but it was broken by a thrown rock on the first ride. I now have a small car driving light mounted to the frame way back under the front plastic. It works great, and you can't even tell that there is a light mounted by looking at the ATV. The driving light came in a package of two for $19.99 at PEP boys so now I have a spare.

Good luck,
Lorrin

(its kind of an example, but just look at a PRM desert front bumper and you'll get it)

I don't think you can hook two lights up to a 300.

why cant you ?? a friend of mine has a moded 250x and he has three lights. one square one on the stock bumper. and two fog lights on the handle bars i thought it was a sweet set up for the 300ex. i think if honda relocates there lights it would be the best looking 4 wheeler in its class.

thanks for all the replies, im working on it right now with my grandpa. we made the stock bumper tubing longer to put the light behind it, then we're gonna make a diamond-plate box to put the light in and set it back in the frame behind the bumper. now all i need to worry about is protecting it, i was thinking about putting some metal screen over the front bumper, i'll post a pic when we're all done.

Anybody here have renthals on there 300EX? Im ordering some tommorow and i was wondering what to do with the plastic piece that goes over the handlebars and has the key switch in it. I could either take off the cross bar on the renthals, and keep the plastic peice on the bars. Or leave the crossbar on the renthals, then id have to leave the plastic off. But I still want to be able to use the key switch. Does anyone have an idea of what i should do? I want to just mount the renthals, with the crossbar on them and still be able to use the key switch. Thanks in advance

if u want to keep a stock key hole what u need to do is go to your local honda dealership and ask them to order you a 250ex handlebar cover is snaps on to ur 300ex light and on the bars also allowing you to keep ur crossbar and pad, it will cost you around 20 25$$

ive heard that the peice from a 1987 250X works perfect too, did u mean to write 250X? or 250EX?

I think he meant 250x. You can use the 1987 250x piece and it works perfect. It matches great and only costs $15.

sorry bout that guys its a 250x piece and the piece i bout costed 25 bucks cause the honda shop here has outragious prices but yeah it works gerat and looks good i recommend taken the headlight off and getting a bracket mouted where it used to be with some aftermarket fog lights on it and repositioning your key on your plastics , right side top piece, just get a hole saw cutter and a drill and it looks better.

I have a set of renthal 300 ex bend bars on my 300 ex. The plastic piece from the old bars is removed and gone. On the right side of the plastic (the one above the HONDA sticker that goes from the top front to the sides around the gas tank) above the N in Honda make a 1 inch hole. Mark the back and the side of the key swith with maker because you need to pull this back off and it makes it easier to line up and put back togather. Insert the key switch through the hole and add some super glue for good luck. Reattach the back of the switch (make sure the line match up or it will not start). Now you have a key switch mounted.
