My R wont run. It will start up and then run for a few min like atop and then it just sputters and dies. I had been told that this was probably an electrical problem probably the cdi or stator and the stator checked bad but replacing that didnt fix it. Ive replaced the coil and cdi too and it still runs for 5 min then dies. Ive even tried to swap carbs of another R and that didnt help. whats left? ive replaced the carb, and everything electrical. what else could it be?

Is the gas cap vent tube clogged? I have seen that alot.

What do the plugs look like? Does it die idling or when you are riding it? Does the RPM's go up before it dies (leans out)?
When you replaced the stator did you get the pick up all aligned and everything?

well its not the vent hose. the RPMs dont really climb but it does sputter and pop.

I have the same problem. Nobody knows whats going on with mine either. I'm going to replace the plug and see what happens.

take your plug out, connect it, and ground it on like a head bolt or something like that. Kick it over and see if there is a strong blue spark. if not, it is electrical, if it is, it is mechanical, but it sounds electrical. Chech the watts ur getting out of ur Stator and do a leak down test.

If you buy some beer, you can ride for 5 minutes... then drink a beer..repeat process.

i agree, but i would check your gas tank, there could be a bunch of crap in it letting it only get limited gas flow. BLow out the fuel line also. Gotta start with the basics, fuel and spark.

The easiest way to check for that is just pull the fuel line off the carb, turn the gas on and make sure it's a good steady flow. Takes 5 seconds.

Haha, thats the way to go.

If you have tried all of what was said, then it could possibly be overheating, maybe?

Did you check your reeds to see if they are damaged at all? You might want to check them out.

Just thought of this, if it is overheating, check to see if u got enough coolant. and make sure u got enough tranny fluid (dont know if that will make a difference tho)
