I see that people are putting Raptor hoods on their 400's. has anyone put a DS650 hood on a 400? I've seen some pretty wierd hood set ups, so I wan't to know if this has been done. Where there is a will there is a way I guess

Sure it can be done. It will just take alot of cutting and fitting. It might not look right though since they have 2 very different body lines.

someone needs to make a R with DS plastic and a rotax 250 motor. :devil that would be one bad quad.

I'm just trying to get some Ideas to change the look. I really hate the bug eyes on the quad. I love my 400 for the size and what I do with it, but I just hate the looks and when I bought it, there was no Z400, KFX, Gas Gas and I knew nothing about the DS650 other than the heafty price tag. I'm thinking of putting a PRM sumit or Baja bar on the front to replace the DG one I have on there now.

It's hard to tell by that picture if it would work or not....you would have to have one of those hoods to be able to set it on the front of your quad to really tell. It looks wider than the 400 front - that would be your biggest problem......you would have fender conflicts as well as it would bow out funny if you attached it at the top......but -again. It's hard to tell from the picture.......

i think you could do it just use this part that i outlined in red and mount it up towards the top of yer plastic so the top of the DS hood like covers yer stem and cables or u could cut it at teh next crease but id do what i got here just incase the next crease wont work or the crease here in the pic outlined in red just dont mess it up, always better to have extra that to little

I bought a 400 because, I've had nothing but good luck with my previous honda quads and trikes and everyone I've known that have had either Yamahas, Polaris, Kawasakis or suzukis have had major problems. I did almost trade it last year for a baja, but the value of the 400 was $1000 less than I expected and they are worse this year. A 2002 mint 400ex with extras is selling privately for around $3900-$4000 and dealer trade in NH is sitting at $3400 with the extra parts and around $3100 Stock, so instead of taking a $2300+ hit for negative equity on a 10 month old quad, I decided to make it look different, no-one can hold that against me

yes because
1. they retailed about 16,000
2. becasue they were more like mutt quads
3. racers couldnt have those quads because they came stock with other parts they werent sponsered by

which is to bad because that quad was by far the nicest thing made:o
