They say to do ti after the break in so one - two tanks of gas I believe. I did my first oil change I think after one tank, than everyone after that I did about every two-three rides....

I am no expert, but after I had my 300 topend rebuilt I changed the oil after about 1-1/2 hrs.

ya i agree with ya fudd i changed mine about 2 hours after i had it. but i only changed the oil. and then i changed the oil and filter after another 4 hours. that was what a registered honda mechanic told me to do. and i've never had a problem with mine it's a 02 300ex. but you'll hear a bunch of different things everybody has there own way. just listen to what everybody has to say and choose your own way to do it.

I just rebuilt mine and now have changed the oil prob 5 times in about 10 hrs worth of riding. I also pulled the clutch side cover and cleaned the oil screen in the bottom of my case. It had more metal shavings than the oil filter did. I know the oil change was a little over kill but I like fresh oil in the new motor.

Dont ever change the oil.....Most bikes like cooking oil if you do....:D

i think u guys are goin overkill with changing it every hour or 2 or even 3. I would brake it in for a little then change the oil and after abt 8 hours. Then continue braking it in then change it after another 8.

yes changing oil is very important in an aircooled engine and makes a motor last bu of course its overkill every 2 hours. oil doesnt start to break down untill atleast 10 hours if its a quality synthetic. if u change it every 2 your wasting oil. if ur really that anal abt it change it every 5 but not 2. What do u do when u go for one days ride? When i ride i go the whole day. am i supposed to change oil mid day cuz its been more then 2 hours:rolleyes: also are u changing oilfilter every 2 hours? Its ur money not mine so do what you want but i personally change oil every 10-12 hours or when it just starts to turn a darker color.

You guys are nuts changing youre oil every 2 hours if you can drive a car 3000 miles before a oil change on 5 quarts I think you can go a little longer than that on 2 quarts in a single cylinder
engine. I had a old honda z50 when I was a kid and I maybe changed the oil once in the 8 years I owned it and it always started on the first kick and never had a problem and dont think I
was easy on it I beat the hell out of this thing every day after school for at least and hour and it still ran perfect after I sold it.
There are alot of myths about oil out there so if you want to change you oil twice a day its youre money not mine.

WOW I only change mine after about 15-20+ hours. I will be changing mine this week and the last time I changed it was October. Never any problems. I will change it more often when I'm racing, but for play riding I don't.

I change my oil filter & oil(10w-40 in spring & 20w-50 in the fall). I ride mine for about an hour everyday after school.

I totally agree. Some people change the oil way too often. I change mine about 3 times a year, depending on use. More with heavy use, less with light use. I have owned many motorcycles and quads over the years. I NEVER have had any problems with engine/bearings/rings, other than normal wear.
