Polishing

Hey guys. if i get me some paint stripper and strip the paint off my cases, throttle cover and my master cylender do i still have to sand it or can i just polish it to get a mirror finish?:confused2

Well......

This is what i do....I take my 400 grit sand paper and sand.....then i take my 600 grit sand paper and sand....Then i take my 1000 grit sand paper and more sanding....then i wet my 1000 grit sand paper and keeeep :huh sanding.....then i take my red buffing compound then I buff it with my buffing wheel....then i take my white rouge and buff it with that.....then i rub in some mother polish.....then i put more polish on and there ya go!

Currently i am doing oil covers and throttle covers for free and anything else will have a small charge to it.....(only if you don't want to do that stuff)

chit dude...soak the case in paint stripper....then after about 20 minutes rinse it with brake clean:scary: repeat if necassary. you dont need to sand unless they are really tore up. use the 3 or 4 step compounds and have at it:macho

i use paint stripper to strip the paint, then it depends on the product, if its cases yes i sand them till there perfect, but smaller things that dont get beat up to much just strip the paint then i use emery compound on sisal wheel to get all the scrathes out, then i use tripoli on a spiral sewn buffing wheel, then i use whuite rouge on a loose wheel, then apply mothers and its done

Could you just list what you need, price, where from, and do i need a buffing wheel for each compound. PLEASE

i just got another big ***** brick of white rouge at the truck stop for $4.95 that is all i use it takes a little longer but is well worth the time

Go to your nearest Sears store and they have a set of 4 different copounds and i think that was 5$.... Yes you do need a seperate wheel for each compound and the wheels are probly from 5-10$ depending on what size you are getting....If you need it.....the sand paper varies from how much you want to get....

I heard people using Plasti-Kote Clear Touch Up Paint (#3001) for lasting shiny finish. Anybody tried it?

No u dont really got to re-polish it after every ride..It depends on the conditons u ride in..But polishing is better than chrome chipping i say:p
