OK around here the highest octane fuel that we have is 91, and my z400 calls for aroung 94, and it does knock alittle, so i was thinking of mixing airplane fuel and my 91 together, so it would make 97. would this be a good idea. and would i have to rejet, or change anything?

thanks

doesnt any shop around there carry 110 race fuel?
I would ask around @ bike and atv shops or at the tracks.

it's about $5 a gallon around here at the local atv shop

I run it straight in my 400ex, but my buddy mixes it half 110 half 93 to get about 100 octane and has good results and saves some money

I wouldn't use it. AV gas is designed to run at high altitudes. Check Sunoco their premium is 94.

Is your bike stock? It's wierd it would be knocking from 91 octane if it's still stock, the manufacturers are usually pretty conservative with compression and such.

Most Av gas is 100-103. 114 is usually leaded racing fuel.

When practicing i use VP Motorsport 103, when i race i run VP C-12 i buy a drum of each at a time and run out of the motorsport about every 4 months maybe quicker then that depending on the weather but the c-12 i can stretch quite a ways cause i drain the tank each time when im done racing and put the 103 in VP fuel is some of the best for my R

Have mixed AV gas with premium unleaded without any trouble. However, it does have additives that you wouldnt find in regular racing gas or pump gas. It is designed to run at high altitudes and at constant rpms. I have never had a engine failure becuase of avgas. I run racing fuel mostly. Mix it half and half when I play ride. Full strength when racing. My recomendation, run racing gas or some octane boost if you cant get racing gas.
Here is a good thread for gasoline and av gas.
Racing gas or Av gas? (http://www.race-dezert.com/cgi-bin/wwwthreads/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=shop&Number=8102&page=&view=&sb=&o=&vc=1#Post8102)

iam too lazy to read everyones post, so maybe its already been said but....90% AV fuel is FULL of lead, 91 is fine for a stock (iam asuming its stock) motor. just adjust the valves for the knocking problem
