don't shovel wet mud..you'll reck your back. Rent a bobcat. You can have it delivered to your door for about $250-300 or maybe cheaper for the whole weekend. If your buddies are going to use your track too, have them pitch in a little for the rental. Just make sure you do a little planning on where you're going to place everything so you save time moving the dirt and have more time to pack it down and make the faces nice.

if your gonna use shovels and stuff and not the bobcat, get yourself a pickaxe too. im using a pickaxe and a spade shovel to move some jumps around on my track and the pick really breaks up the dirt nice;)

bobcats suck in hard dirt use a backhoe or track loader much faster also an idea to keep your jumps from packing is to mix sawdust in with the dirt.

yeah even with are backhoe we hav to loosen the dirt with the hoe then pile it and scoop it and dump

get lightly water the ground dig out the area u want out about 3 to 4 inches deep take about 50 M-80 tie them up in groups of 5 and place them away from eachother based on how bigthe area is take one long fuse and attach them all to it stand back a ways and light it. watch the show and get the job done quick:D :blah . this is also the time if u have an annoying little dog that u dont like to accidently let it go for a piece of meat as u light the fuse
