does the tecate trike have the same engine as the tecate quad and also does the 250r trike have the same engine as the 250r quad?

depends what years you are refuring to..the '86-'87 tecate motors where the same..the '85-'86(unless you are lucky enought to find an '87) where close to the same as the trx..but not ALL parts were interchangable

The tecate3 has a different engine. 86-87 even with a powervalve were different from the 87-88 T4 quad engines. both have powervalves, BUT the trike didn't have a counterbalance. 84-85 Trikes had no powervalve or counterbalancer. Both years of the T4 quad had both powervalves and counterbalancers.

The 86 87 atc were totally different bikes all together.
They only had a 5 speed with pv.and the rad was like a atc250r the 84 85 had the rad right where a light would have been on any other bike.
Right on the forks.
Now the quad was different as well.
Shocks engine carb.
Buth there all mint

Thats why I own 3 tecates

They were only sold in Canada in 87 (the atc 250r). Three wheelers were never outlawed, the manufacturers just agreed not to produce or sell any new ones after 87. I remember seeing an 87 in an old atv magazine, it was pretty sweet with the white and red plastic.
