what is the purpose of the timing chain in an engine? im sorta confused about it:confused:

im assuming your talking about the cam chain, it is a chain that goes from your crankcase to your camsprocket which is attached to the cam, so what it does is turn the cam when the engine is running.

It is a timeing chain and it does exactly what it's called. It's a chain connected from the crankshaft to the camshaft. The timeing chain is there so that it turns the cam over to open the exhaust valves on the exhaust stroke of the piston and open the intake valves on the intake stroke of the piston. If your motor is not in time your motor will go BOOM. :macho
