I am looking to get a new set of tires for my 400EX. I usually run cross country, and trail riding... but I am trying to decide between Holeshots, Razr's, and Razr II's. Which is the better tire? and with the Holeshots, what is the difference between the XC, XCR, and XCT?? Thanks for all input...

razr 2's have deeper lugs and come in 6 ply only.hole shot xc's:heavy duty sidewall, xcr's:lower profile and 6 ply only, xct's:same as xcr but have some angled knobs for increased control when powersliding.razrs and razr 2's last longer and hook up better than holeshots.

Both ITP Holeshots and Maxxis Razr's are proven tires in your type of riding.

ITP Holeshots have been around for awhile now, while the Maxxis Razr's are relatively a new tire.

ITP has recently came out with the XCR Holeshot tire, and Maxxis has recently came out with the Maxxis Razr 2's.

ITP Holeshots come in various sizes for your type of riding:
20" XCR rears are close to the same diameter of the stock tires. ITP is coming out with an XCR front tire soon.
20" XC rear tires are a little taller than the XCR's and stock tires. I would recommend the 22" XC fronts or 23" XCT's with this setup.
22" XCT rear tires are the tallest of the bunch. I would recommend the 23" XCT fronts with this setup.

Maxxis Razr's also come in various sizes.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I hear that the Maxxis Razr 2's are a more aggressive tire than the regular Maxxis Razr's.

Does this help? Or did I make things more confussing??

In short, both tire manufactures are great, some of the fastest riders use them in all riding conditions, and they are both competively priced... Except the new Maxxis Razr 2's! They are expensive right now, but they maybe the "better tire".

Hope this helps... Good luck!:)

I had the XC's and I wasn't happy with them! If your ride trails and country I wouldn't recommend the XC but the XCT would probably work!!

Another tire that seems to be pretty popular is the Kenda's. I think they are the cheapest of the bunch, but I believe someone said they were on backorder or something.
