A big group of us from Ohio are heading north to the sand dunes on Friday morning and riding Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Weather looks good for the weekend. We will have several EX Rider members there. There will be several 400 and 440 ex's, several raptors, several Z400's,a predator, maybe a banshee, and several other machines. We are staying at the Yogi Bear campground. Post if you are going to be there.

Here is pick from our ride last year:

Unfortunately, there will be some of those slow yellow quads with us. We try to ignore them and hope they just go away:

Hope you guys have fun, sorry I can't make this one, I'm still building my polebarnhaus. We will have to hook up sometime this summer though.

Are they actually checking noise levels this year or just for spark arrestors?

They tested almost everyone on their spark arrestors. As for the sound, I assume as it gets busier, they will check for it more.

Question : Is it worth an 8 hour trip? I would say yes if you have never ridden in the dunes. Totally different than trail riding. We have people come from Southern Ohio (8 hours) and have made the trip twice.

Question: Will the FMF Power core get you in? Hard to say. The weekend that we were there, they were only checking spark arrestors. They may check for sound when it gets busier. Hard to say. Keep checking with people that just came back to see if they are checking for sound.

I have never had my sound checked there; they always check for spark arresters though. The place is small only if you consider a 450 acre scramble area small. It's not dunes like out west, but it's not 30hrs away either.
